Photographing during family holidays, recognizable?
As you might know: I can photograph all day long. Whenever possible, I hop on my bike in search of something to capture. Going on holiday? The camera comes along. A weekend getaway with a friend? The camera is there. And I must say, I’m so lucky that everyone is always so patient. Because yes... that's necessary if you want to linger a bit longer everywhere for that perfect little scene.
Okay, I often have to bribe my kids with ice cream. And my friends sometimes calculate how many stores they could have visited while waiting for that one photo that still needed to be taken. But it's such a blessing that they allow you that moment for the perfect photo.
Waiting for the best moment
Of course, you prefer to have no or not too many people in your photo. If you go on holiday to lively places, that takes quite some time. You usually have to wait somewhere until everyone has moved on or until finally no one is walking by. Occasionally, that works out and then you're super happy. But often it just takes too long, and the beautiful photo opportunity doesn't happen. Naturally, you don't want to keep the whole travel group waiting forever for 'your' photo!
That one scene
It often happens that you suddenly see a nice scene that you quickly want to capture. You don't have time to mention it. The rest doesn't notice and just keeps walking. Then you have to run to catch up with the group or figure out which direction everyone went. On a group trip or guided tour, you also invariably miss the most interesting facts from the guide because of this. And if someone else is with you who also has a camera, then it's complete chaos. I've sometimes completely lost the group because of this, oops...
Only the lonely
Because it's not fun to travel alone, you always disappear with your camera for an hour during every holiday or city trip. Sometimes you even set the alarm to go out early, and it often happens that you walk in the blazing heat over the boulevard sweating for that one photo you still wanted to take. While the rest is relaxing by the pool with a colorful cocktail. That's a bit of a pity, of course. But how happy you are when you see at home on the big screen that the photos during those moments turned out exactly as you had imagined!
