The most awkward situations on holiday

On holiday, you naturally experience all sorts of things, and sometimes awkward situations arise due to your own choices. Which of the following events can you check off?

They don't understand me anyway

Let's start with the most well-known holiday phenomenon: talking loudly on the beach in your own language about people sitting nearby, assuming they don't understand you. This might have worked in the past, but nowadays there's a good chance someone in the group knows exactly what you're talking about.

Spending the entire holiday in the restroom

Thinking you can handle that local sauce during an exotic excursion, only to be confined to your hotel room for three days because you constantly need to use the toilet. It's a funny story for when you're back home, but a waste of your precious days!

Relaxing on holiday

While you planned to go to bed early every day during your holiday, your neighbors had a completely different week in mind. They have a party on the balcony next to you every evening and night, and there's no night porter to complain to. What a hassle!

Packing lots of luggage in your suitcase

For the outbound trip, you measured precisely to see if you could squeeze something extra into your suitcase. During the holiday, you shopped to your heart's content and forgot how full your suitcase already was! Luckily, they're never as strict on the way back! At least, I don't know anyone who has ever had issues at check-in for the return flight.

Forgetting sunscreen

This has probably happened to everyone at some point. Not applying enough sunscreen, missing a few sensitive spots, or simply forgetting. With all the consequences that follow.

Figuring out where to go

Trying to find your way using a large map in a prominent spot in a less affluent country. This (I assume) no longer happens now that we can use Google Maps for everything. But even with your phone in your hand, it can still be very obvious that you're a lost tourist!
